Webinar: Understanding and Mitigating Enumerator Effects
Data Quality Management: A Make-or-Break Factor for Every Organization
In today's digital age, accurate and reliable data is crucial for informed decision-making across various sectors. High-quality data can lead to actionable insights that transform lives, communities, and nations. However, achieving high-quality data comes with its challenges. Join us as we explore common traps in data collection and discover practical solutions to ensure data integrity.
Through a four-part webinar series in partnership with SurveyCTO, we'll explore the common traps and pitfalls organizations encounter in their quest for quality data. From enumerator effects to sample biases and instrument design flaws, we'll examine the factors that can compromise the integrity of data collection processes and explore practical solutions to mitigate these risks.
Understanding and Mitigating Enumerator Effects
The effects of enumerators (or interviewers) are defined as inconsistent practices among data collectors. They’re the most prevalent issue in data collection. Enumerator effects can manifest in various ways — from questions that guide respondents toward particular answers to inputting answers incorrectly to data fabrication in rare cases. Is the interviewer asking the questions the way they’re supposed to, every single time, with every respondent? This can be hard to track when no one is observing them and no supervisors are nearby.
Main Topics
Introduction to enumerator effects and their impact on data quality
Solutions such as audio capture, photo capture, GPS tracking, and monitoring for ensuring data accuracy
Field-level validation measures to prevent data inaccuracies
Utilizing paradata for statistical quality control without compromising privacy
Review and corrections workflow in SurveyCTO to ensure data integrity
